The project had the development of speaking and listening skills at its core.
The idea was to train up a small group of students in each school as global ambassadors. They received support to develop their own communication skills through participating in activities focusing on a global theme e.g. human rights. Students linked up across schools to explore identity and community through drama, sport and practical activities. In common with other GED projects, Other Voices increased awareness of global citizenship, embedded SMSC across the curriculum and ethos of the school and contributed to community cohesion. It enabled teachers to network and share best practice. There was free CPD for teachers, building their confidence to deal with controversial issues through dialogue and raising awareness of global citizenship methodologies and resources. |
